Young Musicians Unite

Young Musicians Unite (YMU) establishes thriving music programming in schools that previously lacked arts programs. Students in the communities of Brownsville/Little River and Homestead have benefitted from YMU offerings such as drumline, modern band, beginning band, pitch & rhythm and music production which provide  immersive environments that nourish students’ cognitive ability to enhance language development, reading proficiency, and spatial reasoning skills, resulting in improved grades and testing scores. YMU is rapidly expanding its 3-phase sustainable model in partnership with Miami-Dade County Public Schools. To date, 186 new music classes have been seeded and sustained in a total of 37 schools and more than 16,000 students have been given access to new music classes at their school.
